Kelsy Oldham Memorial Scholarship

The Willamette Valley Road Runners' mission is to support and encourage a healthy approach to running and training for runners of all ages and all levels of ability. Through the camaraderie of a club atmosphere, members enjoy running for the purpose of general fitness as well as personal and team goals. As a group the Willamette Valley Road Runners participates in, as well as promotes, running and fitness related events and activities throughout the communities of the Willamette Valley. A Salem running and racing club formed by the merger of Pheidippides Running & Walking Club and the Willamette Valley Striders on January 1, 2002. Member of Road Runners Club of America (RRCA). Our club is dedicated to running for fitness and fun for runners of all ages. Many of our members compete regularly at distances of 1 mile to 100 miles on the track, road and trails. We also have regularly scheduled training/fun runs 2 times a week. The club also organizes 9 racing events a year ::

January - Capitol Mile.
January - Cascade Half-Marathon, 10K & 2mi.
February - Zena Road Runs, 3mi, 6mi & 15K.
June - Summer Solstice 5K & 10K.
July - Montmouth Mini-Marathon

August - Bush Park Cross Country Series, 500 kids, 1600 kids, 3000 & 5000 meters.
September - Dayton Fiesta Run 10K, 5K & kids.
October  - Pie in the Sky 5 & 10K Runs
November - Eola Hills Wine Cellars "No Hills" Harvest Run 10K & 5K

Regular Runs (52 weeks a year, rain or shine, last updated - 24-Sep-2014) ::
Saturday morning long runs meet at the Governor's Cup Coffee House, 495 Court St at 7:00 am. Contact Kelli Vesper at hikergrl818@comcast.net  Distances are usually long and easy, 2 to 26 miles and vary according to the time of year. (Note -  some will also start at Gallagher Fitness Resources, 135 Commercial NE, during the Summer, groups of runners  will leave as early as 4:30 am).Visitors and non club members are always welcome.

Pace groups for weekend runs range from 6 to 15 min per mile.
