Foods WHY 2K? - The hype is nearly over. Y2K has finally arrived (at least we assume it will). With this momentous turn of the calendar. Kettle Foods, Gallagher Fitness Resources, Reebok, & Spiridon Race Management offer you an opportunity to begin the next millennium with a PR in a new distance. Since January of 1983, Salem has hosted an annual New Year's Day Mile Run around the State Capitol Building. In this eighteenth year, we are pleased to welcome a new millennium and a new title sponsor!. Thanks to Kettle Foods, the Annual run around the Capitol has survived the proverbial Y2K Krash. Next year, the Mile will return & the Kettle Foods Klassic will help continue this Salem New Year's tradition! Date: January 1, 2000 Start Times: 2K Run Walk & Racewalk................ 9:00 am Childrens 1K........................................9:40 am 3K Fun Run & Walk..........................10:15 am All events are held on the block surrounding the Oregon State Capitol Building. The finish line for each event is on Waverly Street, east of the Capitol Building. Assemble at the corner of Cottage and Court Streets near the Salem Family YMCA before the start of the 2K. Go south on Salem Parkway (becomes Commercial St as you enter downtown). Turn left on Chemeketa. Go 3 blocks, then turn right on Cottage St. From the South: Drive north on I-5 to Commercial St Exit (Exit 249). Go south on Commercial approx 5 miles. (Commercial becomes Liberty St as you enter downtown) Turn right on Chemeketa. Go 3 blocks, then turn right on Cottage St. In Person Registration: Starts Wednesday, December 8, 1999 & continues until Friday, December 31, 1999 exclusively at Gallagher Fitness Resources, 233 Commercial St NE, Downtown Salem 503-364-4198 or 80-423- 3460 Mail-in Registration: Mail your completed registration form along with your check or money order payable to Kettle Foods Millennium Klassic, 233 Commercial St NE, Salem, OR 97301. Day of Race Registration: From 7:30 am to 8:45 am inside the Salem Family YMCA located at the corner of Court and Cottage Streets. Registration Fees: Pre-registration (all events).................$8 (you may run/walk either the 2K or the 3K or both for the cost of one entry fee) Late Registration (after Dec 29).............$10 Long Sleeve Hydromove T-Shirt............$24 (Special Edition T-Shirts with an attractive 4 color design. These shirts feature Reebok's moisture management technology (not your basic cotton T). This fabric allows your body heat to push moisture way from your skin, keeping your body temperature stable and your workout enjoyable). Note: Parent or guardian must sign waiver for child. All children must wear an official race number in the Children's 1K run. GREAT RANDOM PRIZE DRAWINGS after the event for all participants and volunteers. You must be present to win! Results Results will be posted at Gallagher Fitness Resources on January 3rd. Results also posted on the Willamette Valley Striders Web Site at www.wvstriders.org Prize Drawing and Awards: The Awards Ceremony will be held in the Salem Family YMCA Gymnasium and will begin following the completion of the 3K. 2K Run Age Group Awards: Men's & Women's Overall 2K Winners AND Men's & Women's Overall 2K Masters Winners each will receive a Reebok Enduro Microfibre Jacket. Age group awards as follows: 1st Place Prize: Award Certificate and Reebok Signature Duffle Bag. 2nd Place Prize: Award Certificate and Reebok 2-Pak Hydromove Socks. 3rd Place Prize: Award Certificate and Reebok Wonder Under Ball Cap Age Groups: 0-15, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65 & Over. Certificates will be presented to the first three male & female racewalk finishers. Awards will be presented to the first boy & girl in the Children's 1K and the first three boys & girls in the 5 & under and 6-9 age groups. Certificates presented to the first ten male & female finishers in the 3K. Prizes not picked up at the awards ceremony must be picked up from Gallagher Fitness Resources by January 31, 2000. NOTE: Prizes will not be mailed to winners.
