Run for Peace

Twas the night before Christmas,
And all through the streets,
Not a creature was running,
Not even the athletes.

For all of the runners
Lay in their beds,
With visions of PRs,
Playing in their heads.

But from the night,
Did suddenly I hear,
A jolly good sound,
Full of great cheer.

I ran to my window,
To catch a glimpse of this sight,
And looked down the road,
And off to the right.

Many people were coming,
Formed in a pack,
Thousands and thousands,
No sign of the back.

I watched in awe,
As the first ran by,
Filled with joy,
I began to cry.

They waved to me,
Bidding I come along,
I put on my shoes,
It didn’t take long.

Out the door quickly,
Like the crack of a whip,
I joined right in,
At a fairly good clip.

The first one I came to,
Asking "What’s it all about",
"Didn’t you hear?"
He said with a shout.

It’s almost Christmas,
We’re spreading the news,
Peace on earth,
That’s what we choose.

So if you believe in the spirit,
Then come along,
Traveling cross-country,
Singing this song!

Merry Christmas Everyone!
