ENTRY FORM ETIQUETTE
By Mick Evans

During last month's Spring Splash 5K/8K I attempted to help Rick Fordney from Spiridon Race Management interpret some of the handwritten entry forms - it wasn't easy!

When the entry form instructs us to "PLEASE PRINT CLEARLY" it means just that I was amazed how many entrants filled out the entire entry form in barely legible handwriting. One thing I've noticed in the last decade is that folks are getting increasingly creative on the correct spelling of their names, and more names are becoming androgynous (remember Saturday Night Live's Pat?). Names like Casey can be spelled Casi, Casy, Casey or Casee, and can just as likely refer to a male or female competitor.

Some entrants forget to enter their gender or age, or both I've seen competitors denied an age group win because of an illegible or incomplete entry form, more than once!

So please, (and I include myself in this advice), take a little extra time filling out your entry form, and, of course, PLEASE PRINT CLEARLY!!
