WHERE ::
Bush Park
- Mission Street, across from Salem Memorial Hospital - This is a downtown park with
several running trails - mainly barkdust with some blacktop. There are several small
hills, with steep or easy access trails. There are seasonal water fountains and year-round
bathrooms at several locations. Popular lunch time running area. Some of the trails get
kinda soggy during the wet months. Click

Minto-Brown Park -
larger park close into Salem on River Road South. Has both blacktop and barkdust
trails that loop through woods, farm land and along the east bank of the Willamette,
Seasonal water fountains and year-round bathrooms. Several marked running loops, longest
about 6 miles. Sections of this park are under water during the winter. Pull into
first parking lot for bathrooms and trail map. Click

Highway 22 - West Salem - One of the routes we run on our Saturday long runs, it is an
out and back course. Starting at the YMCA, 685 Court St. NE, run west all the way to Front
Street, turn right and follow the footpath to and under the first road bridge (Center St.
bridge), turn sharp right up onto the bridge and cross to other side of river. Follow bike
path West along Edgewater Street and continue on to the bike path on the Westbound side of
Hwy. 22. After running 7 miles, cross over the pedestrian footbridge and turn left onto
the old highway. WVRR has adopted a 2 mile portion of this highway for litter cleanup.
This run has seasonal water fountains and year-round bathrooms at Holman State Park
Wayside (4.7 miles out) and seasonal water fountains at the Oak Knoll Golf Club (7 miles
out). Major mile markers on the way out (starting from the YMCA) are ::
Key Bank (Edgewater St.) - 2 miles
Valley Garbage entrance- 3 miles
Holman State Park (water and restrooms) - 4.7 miles
Pentacle Theater turnoff - 6 miles
Golf Course (Water)- 7.1 miles
RR tracks on old Hwy - 10 miles
(cross over Hwy 99W)
Park and Ride parking lot on right - 11 miles
(continue heading towards Dallas)
Old white farm house driveway on right - 12 miles
Orchard View Lane street sign on left - 13 miles
Belle Aire Villa sign on right - 14 miles
Silver Creek Falls State Park - a favorite of some of our walkers,
trail running ultra runners and a beautiful hiking area. WVRR has adopted a portion of the
trails in this park for trail maintenance and litter cleanup. Located about 1/2 hr east of
Salem outside of Silverton. (Double click on picture for full size).
Riverfront
Park - This new addition to Salem is easily reached from the downtown area by
heading west across Front St. The paths are mainly concrete with some blacktop and they
are lit at night. The loop around the perimeter of the park is approx. 1.1 miles.
Year-round water and restrooms are available at south end of park, next to the acid ball. Click here for a Trail Map (PDF) |
